Lori Jenkins, CPA, President
Lori Jenkins has over twenty-five years of experience in the financial and operational management of healthcare organizations. As a consultant at Strategic Solutions, she has handled the financial management and operational improvement needs of clients, such as budgeting, feasibility studies, selecting EHR systems, mentoring Office Managers, and managing the billing and collections process. Lori's areas of expertise include: operational analysis and improvement; financial management and reporting; and revenue enhancement through strategies that target both cost reduction and improved collections. Lori has a degree in Accounting from Siena College and started her career as an auditor for Ernst and Whinney, where she performed audits on a variety of organizations from banks to hospitals. After her tenure at E&W, she moved onto an internal auditor position at Farm Family Insurance. In this position, she was responsible for developing and managing the operational and financial auditing program, which included the health claims department. Prior to starting Strategic Solutions, she acted as Executive Director for a large, multi-site, multi-specialty group practice. During her stay at this practice, where she started as Financial Manager, she managed a 200% growth in providers, and was responsible for developing the annual budget process, enhancing collections, and managing the operational and financial impact associated with rapid growth.
Laura Doolin, MBA, Vice-President
Laura Doolin has over thirty years of experience in both the hospital and private practice setting. As a consultant with Strategic Solutions, Laura's areas of expertise include strategic planning, Patient Centered Medical Home development, MIPS, Quality Programs, Business Plan development, benchmarking and data analysis, and regulatory compliance. With an undergraduate degree in Sociology from SUNY-Albany and an MBA in Health Systems Administration from Union College, she began her healthcare career as a healthcare planner for a small hospital in Delaware County, where she assisted the hospital in changing its role from an acute-care facility to a skilled nursing facility. From there she went on to a 440-bed hospital, starting as a planner and moving up to Assistant Vice-president for Planning and Program Development. In this position, she was responsible for CON development, new program development and marketing, and departmental business planning, as well as supporting the hospital strategic planning and marketing efforts. Prior to starting Strategic Solutions, Laura was responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive multi-specialty women's health center.
Marla Krauss, MBA, CPC, Vice-President
Marla Krauss joined Strategic Solutions in 1996, and has been heavily involved in front-line operations and billing management projects. Her areas of expertise include: personnel management, front-line operations, billing, collections, coding education, and corporate compliance. She is a certified with the American Academy of Professional coders as a Certified Professional Coder. Marla began her career thirty years ago as Office Manager for a three-physician ophthalmology practice in Virginia. Since that time, she has had experience as an office manager in a primary care practice and as Director of Operations for a large multi-specialty group practice. In the latter position, she coordinated staff and operations in an 11-physician practice with three sites. She also served as Vice-President of Primary Care Services for Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, NY where she responsible for the fiscal and operational management of a four-site primary care practice.
Karen Roy, CPC, Sr. Consultant
Karen Roy has over 20 years of experience in both hospital and private practice settings. Since joining Strategic Solutions in 2006, Karen has been responsible for consulting and managing several practices. Her areas of expertise include: practice management, Patient Centered Medical Home, CPCI, operational troubleshooting, coding audits, and program development. She began her health care career in a home infusion company followed by a private practice before joining Seton Health where she managed a 10 provider practice. Karen was appointed the Director of Practice Operations for Seton Health's Primary Care Network where she was responsible for the fiscal and operational management of the Network's 13 primary and specialty care practices and direct supervision of the Practice Management staff. Karen has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Management and is a Certified Professional Coder.
Shannon Campoli, CPC, CHONC, Director of Hospital Billing
Shannon Campoli has over 20 years experience in healthcare billing. In 2013 Shannon joined Strategic Solutions and her role includes the management of: hospital-based physician billing; Article 28 dental and behavioral health billing; APG and APC billing for Medicare and Medicaid; rate code and revenue code implementation;and compliance audits. Shannon began her career at Leonard Hospital as a registrar in the Emergency Room and worked as a lead patient service rep in several of their satellite physician offices. Shannon also served on the Meditech implementation team and was key in setting up and training on the new system. Shannon then worked for Blue Shield for a few years as a technical specialist in the Managed Care Department. She returned to the provider side as a contract specialist at Seton Health in the business office and was promoted to Practice Operations Director. Shannon worked closely with the finance and billing departments and was successful in improving revenue cycle statistics through coding education, development of billing practices and improved financial reporting. In addition, Shannon gained health center experience having served for two years as the Director of Billing for Whitney Young Health Care, a Federally Qualified Health Center. She has a BS in Healthcare Administration and is a Certified Professional Coder.
Peggy Drahos, Director of Private Practice Billing
Peggy Drahos has been with Strategic Solutions since the start of the company. Her 20 years of experience in the private practice setting include medical billing, management of billers and working with clients. Peggy works with Billing Managers to help insure all client needs are met. Peggy also works with the training and coding department to help implement policies to improve the efficiency of the billing process. Prior to working at Strategic Solutions Peggy worked in the banking industry. Here she was involved in management of sales and mortgage processing. Peggy has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Relations from Le Moyne College.
Sara DiBlasio, CPC, Coding Manager
The Coding Department is led by Sara DiBlasio. Sara has extensive experience in medical billing which gives her additional insight and knowledge when conducting coding activities. Sara began her career at Strategic Solutions in 2002. Under Sara’s guidance, the Coding Department supports the Company’s billing and training operations and plays an integral part in Corporate Compliance, employee auditing, and internal and external coding reviews. Additionally, the Coding Department provides education for office staff, either in group settings or one-on-one sessions with providers.
Deidre Dowling, MA, CPC, Manager of Corporate Training
The Training Department is led by Deidre Dowling. Deidre has been creating and implementing education programs for over 15 years, the majority of which has been for adult learners in community and corporate settings. The Department’s full-time trainers all have significant experience as medical billers and understand how to bill for both private practice and hospital-based physician groups. The Training Department provides a structured training program to all new billers who join Strategic Solutions. Additionally, the Department develops and facilitates training to existing staff on a wide range of billing-related issues including: billing for specific medical specialties; Corporate Compliance; and improving efficiencies in the billing process. The Training Department works closely with Billing Managers, the Coding Department, as well as the Corporate Compliance Committee, to ensure training information is timely, up to date and accurate.
Scott Smith, Manager of Information Systems
The IT Department is led by Scott Smith. Scott has experience providing technical hardware/software support in a Windows environment, as well as detailed knowledge of network infrastructure, site-to-site connectivity, and SQL Server Express/Windows Server 2008. Prior to joining Strategic Solutions, he worked in healthcare IT settings providing system support and maintenance. The IT department works directly with Medent on implementation and maintenance of the system. Additionally, IT works with staff and external clients to set up and maintain EMR systems and deals with common IT activities such as supporting Office 365, upgrading systems and hardware, and licensing.
